The “Children of Color” film has been recognized and celebrated at several film festivals. In 2010, “Children of Color” was honored by the Los Angeles Movie Awards with an honorable mention, was an official selection at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival and Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival, and a exhibited at the US Army 85th Support Family Day event. In 2011, the film was screened at Louis Nettelhorst Elementary School and has been officially selected by the Puerto Rico International Film Festival, Singapore International Children’s Film Festival, and Yoga Barn-Bali, Indonesia Film Festival. Blanca, who has an extensive nursing background, was also an honoree and speaker at TACTS Women’s Health Careers Networking Social at Mercy Hospital for her filmmaking accomplishments.
